Flo Rida Must Be From FloRida

Florida was awesome! Just another couple days of pure fun and adventure before heading back to Provo to start training for being an RA.

I loved going to see Laura. She lives on a ranch owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (of which we are both members). It was so fun to see her in her element. It actually helped my understand some of her quirks ;)

First night there, Laura introduced me to the soft-shell turtle babies they had hatched, then forced Jorden (her older brother) to come with us to catch guppies to find the *fish. That was exciting! We went out to a pond behind the church building and Jorden would get close to the water and use the net to grab anything near the surface. Laura was in charge of using the flashlight to find the glowing eyes of the gaters in the pond and keep tabs on where they were and if they were getting closer. They were pretty big ones too! She guessed the smallest was at least 5 feet! Crazy.
*side note: it turns out the "guppies" were about as big as the turtles...so they died but were never eaten by the tiny turtles (whom Laura and I named after the Ninja Turtles)
Saturday we went on an air boat ride around part of the water-ways on the ranch and got to enjoy seeing the gaters (Jorden actually caught one for us!).

We also went swimming at the swimming hole (or "watering hole" as Laura's aunt accidentally called it ha!). It is the coolest swim area I ever did see! Home-made rope swings, water slides, high dives...the works!
Sunday was spent at church and then shell hunting. On the ranch there are these shell pits where contractors dig up and dump heaps of shells. The shells are eventually crushed and used to make roads and such, but until then they are free pickin's for whoever wants to dig around in the mounds. And those shells are HUGE.

I also spent part of Sunday wearing my new favorite apron...which was probably can't be counted as my "Sunday best."

Monday was spent at Wet n' Wild which was...
WET N' WILD!
'nough said.

Tuesday found us at The Islands of Adventure of Universal Studios. We spent probably over half our time in the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter part of the park. It was fantastic! Loved it! We also enjoyed the superhero rides (which, after Harry Potter, are the next best thing in the park!

(this is us getting ready to go on the Spiderman ride (the one photo of us doing something "non-Harry Potter"))

So...all-in-all...a very successful vacation for me this summer!
Booooooo yeah!
