Walking Through Kensington Gardens

I know I have only taken 2 (well 2 1/2 if you count that first "neighborhood walk" on the first day here) so it probably is not very convincing to tell you that this is my favorite walk so far...but still! It is.
Kensington Gardens and the Palace are beautiful! It was so peaceful walking through and just enjoying all the beauty around me. Beauty was found in man-made objects (impressive statues, a massive monument, the pretty palace gates, etc.) and also in natural creations (large trees, colorful flowers, lovely waterways, etc.). There was a fantastic balance struck between the man-made and the natural beauties that really made the place a wonderful experience as a whole.
My favorite part?
Oh. Easily the monument to Prince Albert. It was stunning and so intricit. In fact, I will have a whole separate post about that soon enough. As an art history major...well, basically all of England is blowing my mind as an art history major...but this monument particularly. So...stay tuned if you want to know more.
What else did I see?
Well...
-the famous Peter Pan statue
-the coolest playground of my life!
(It is a playground built in memory of Princess Diana and it is awesome! It is also called "The Peter Pan playground" because there is a pirate ship (it is huge), fairy sculpture things (for lack of a better word) and some other stuff that relates to the story of the little boy who wouldn't grow up)
-the Italian Gardens
-lots of flowers and squirrels and birds and water... :)
Good stuff let me tell ya.
*Oh! By the way, Kensington Gardens is often called Hyde Park (especially by tourists) because they are so close BUT it is not part of Hyde Park. It is different. So...remember that.

Hey Ashley - great blog posts so far - thanks for giving us a "peak" at London. Yes, take those pictures of sites with yourself in them once in a while, like above. (ok, technically someone else has to take them)... Looking back at the photos of my mom's travels around the world when she was younger, the pics I like the best, of course, are w/her and family in them! Her other photos mean something to her, but not to me, since, well, she's not in them.... my mom would also love to be doing what you are doing! She loved traveling.... eat it up!
